SunDown Gold PLUS Retractable Awnings

Commercial Retractable Awnings

When Maximum Shade is Required

Superior Strength Offering a 17 ft. Projection.

The Gold PLUS commercial retractable awning is characterized by a double supporting square steel bar enabling the easy installation of the available 17 ft. projection arms. The Gold Plus awning can be used to protect large spaces such as gardens, pool decks, patios or commercial areas.

This is the "Mother" of all commercial awnings. The arm and spring combination coupled with the oversized heavy wall roll tube is so strong the fabric will never sag and water runs off easily even with a shallow pitch. Take a look at the picture. There is NO sag even with a 17' extension and this awning is used daily and is over 3 years old!

40 years of experience provides the knowledge
to develop commercial awnings of this caliber and size.

Note: the twin heavy duty mount tubes. Eliminates the twisting a single tube mount experiences under load. Note: the extra heavy arm coupling to the mount tubes. Note: the extra heavy wall mount bracket with dual receptors for the twin mount tubes.

Large center supports

insure maximum stability and consistency
when extending and retracting our "PLUS" retractable awnings.

Carbon steel springs

Carbon steel is the best material for coiled-type springs. It maintains its strength and shape virtually forever and is resistant to corrosion. These springs are installed inside of the extra large extruded aluminum arms that "power" the Sundown Gold PLUS retractable awning.

All assembly hardware is stainless steel

We insist that all assembly hardware be Stainless Steel. It is a must as the retractable awning should last 20-30 years. With out stainless steel hardware, the life span will be much less; and you will have rust stains to deal with as the cheap steel parts corrode away.

Italian design and engineering coupled with the latest manufacturing
techniques, US assembly and TUV GS product approval

The Sundown Gold PLUS commercial retractable awning has a TUV GS rating for product excellence. What does TUV stand for?

I have been asked this question a number of times and did not have a good answer. I called TUV America headquartered in Danvers, Massachusetts and asked them the question "What does a TUV rating mean to me and what criteria do you use for testing? The answer?

ANSWER... They test only for electrical and mechanical safety and suitability for purpose. No stress tests are performed. It was likened to our UL Listing. The TUV rating is being bandied about by some awning companies to indicate their product met some engineering stress test criteria when they didn't. TUV America has the same test protocol as is used in Europe and has no more significance than the European Certificate. I believe the stress and wind testing we are having performed on our awning systems are more indicative of the real-life demands of our awnings. The initial results of our real -ife testing indicates our Sundown Series of Retractable awning sytems will exceed the strength of all of our competitors.

Manual operators are standard using a 13:1 worm gear.

Removable arbor handles are available in various lengths.

Motorization options are available and motor operators are even available with manual overrides for manual retraction or extension if desired.

85mm galvanized steel roll tubes used with heavy wall-extruded aluminum front rails

Eliminates fabric sagging and distortion when fully extended.

All metal parts are powder coated using a time-proven, 5-step process.

Maximizes the durability of the finish.

Elegant Italian design maximizes a clean, efficient and functional look.

The Sundown Gold PLUS commercial retractable awning is designed to be installed in a wall-mount configuration only. Soffit mounting is not recommended due to structural concerns of the soffit.

Tenara Thread

All of our awning covers use Tenara thread and are sewn using computer-controlled pneumatic sewing machines. This insures consistent straight seams.

The Tenara thread has been proven to be an exceptionally stable, easy-to-sew and long-lasting product. Tenara sewing thread will not deteriorate from exposure to the elements. It's an ideal choice for sewing awnings, because it's immune to ultraviolet degradation, the primary cause of seam failure.
